Ultimately the racist system affects every minority,
but those who are most commonly affected are Black people.
Below are just a few lives that were lost from people serving the unjust system:
GEORGE FLOYD (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
On May 25, 2020 a convenient store employee called the cops on 46 year old George Floyd for allegedly using a fake $20 bill to pay for his cigarettes. Two officers came and forced Floyd to the ground outside of the store. Officer Derek Chauvin later arrived and proceeded to dig his knee into Floyd's neck for 7 minutes and 46 seconds as he yelled "I can't breathe" at least 20 times before dying on the road.
TRAYVON MARTIN (Sanford, Florida)
On February 26, 2012 George Zimmerman was a part of a neighborhood patrol when he saw 17 year old Trayvon Martin walking home from a convenient store and decided to call Sanford Police because he looked "suspicious". Zimmerman completely disregarded the dispatcher telling him to stop following Martin, and instead shot and killed him for simply walking home with a bag of Skittles and a bottle of juice. What's even more devastating is that Zimmerman was only arrested after protestors demanded justice for Martin because he was protected under the self defense laws in Florida.
BREONNA TAYLOR (Louiville, Kentucky)
On March 19, 2020 Breonna Taylor and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, were sleeping in her home when they were awoken by aggressive sounding knocks at their door. Unaware that it was the police, Walker assumed that it was an intruder and therefore shot at the door. The police shot several bullets back which unfortunately hit and killed Taylor. The police were there to investigate two men who they thought sold drugs at a house far from Taylor's, but were issued a no-knock warrant from a judge because they also thought one of the men recieved packages using Taylor's home. After searching her home, no drugs were found proving that Breonna Taylor's death was at fault of a police's false assumption.
